Time flies. It is hard to believe that it has been eight years since I sat down with my wife and kids to tell them that people were asking me to run for City Council and to ask them what they thought about that! The four of us could only imagine the adventure it would be to represent this community where I grew up. Eight years later, it is time for a new adventure, and I will not be running for a third term in 2023. It has been a great honor to have the trust of the amazing people who call Lucky District 7 home over two terms on Council. I cannot thank you enough for electing me to be your voice with my vote and to be in the room where it happens to represent you.
It has been an amazing ride. I am so proud of the work we were able to do together to secure $40 million dollars a year of new funding for parks and open space, to create and fund a brand new office in the city dedicated to tackling climate change head on, to install Denver’s first rainbow crosswalk on Broadway to celebrate our amazing LGBTQ+ community, to require single stall bathrooms to have gender neutral signage so that everyone feels safe and has access to the bathroom, to repeal the “tampon tax” and properly classify period products as essential items, to secure millions of dollars from the general fund and from two bond initiatives for bike, pedestrian, and other infrastructure projects in the district, and so much more!

I’ll also never forget the time my cat got internet famous while we were working to ban declawing in Denver.
...or the time my kids broke into a 100+ year old safe at City Hall. |
My term doesn't end until July of 2023, and there is still a lot to get done. No matter what comes next, I will be deeply involved in this city and in this community that I love. Last month we approved a new map for Lucky District 7. With a new map, it is time for a new councilperson, and after eight years, it will be time for a new adventure for me and my family. Thank you so much for your vote, your support, your engagement, and your trust!
